Preventative Maintenance
Much like your automobile, generators need regular maintenance in order to ensure proper operation. Preventative maintenance of your generator can reduce the need for major repairs, saving you time and money. During routine PMA visits, our technicians often discover smaller problems within the generator and can recommend minor corrections On-the-Spot.
Depending on your generator's age and frequency of use, a PMA may be necessary once or multiple times per year. Our technicians inspect, adjust, and service 21 different components of your generator to ensure proper functioning. PMA visits may also include routine oil and filter change following manufacturer recommendations.
We also encourage customers to annually perform Load Bank Testing to maintain reliability and reduce the possibility of pre-mature component failure.
Load Bank Testing
Find out about Load Bank Testing, the practical way to test your generator's output under realistic circumstances.
Providing On-Demand power is the essential directive for a generator. Some situations (particularly for diesel engines) make it more difficult for inferior or older systems to run reliably:
- Inadequate preventative maintenance of the generator plant
- Generator plant not being exercised on a routine schedule
- Generator plant exercised routinely at less than 100% of its full rated load.
Load Bank Testing rids the exhaust ports and valves of carbon and cylinder-bore build-up as well as reveals frail electrical components.
We recommend testing new generator plants at start-up to ensure they meet the factory-specified load and long-run requirements. Load Bank Testing of new units does not affect factory warranties and any subsequent failures as a result of the testing may be claimed under warranty. Under loaded, used units should be tested annually, or at the first sign of performance problems, such as erratic or slow response under load conditions.
Comet Industrial Products, Inc. has over 35 years experience in the generator industry. We employ qualified, factory-trained technicians and the necessary equipment to conduct Load Bank Testing on generators with ratings to 1000 kilowatts.
We can perform an on-site Load Bank Test on your generator without disabling the emergency or stand-by capabilities. Feel free to contact us for more information or to find out how you can schedule a test for your generator. |
